Japan delegation visited Saint-Petersburg. The aim of Japan delegation's visit was participation in two-days seminar, dedicated to the promotion of Japan and Saint-Petersburg tourist image and development of tourist exchange between Saint-Petersburg and Tokio.

Ice hotel will be built in Saint-Petersburg

First Ice hotel will appear in Saint-Petersburg. “Ice studio” company (company built famous Palace of Anna Ioanovna on the Palace square) will build unusual for Russia, but rather well known in Europe ice hotel. By the words of Svetlana Miheeva, development director of the company, ice hotel in Saint-Petersburg won't be like European hotels. Ice hotel will exist the whole year, while European ice hotels are built every year from the beginning.
New hotel will become the part of big ice complex. Building terms are not defined jet. Supposedly, complex will be opened step-by-step.
Now there are 30 ice hotels in the World. Sleeping bags, fur beddings and hot drinks are given to the guests of the hotel. Most known ice hotels are: Ishotellet hotel in Yukkasyarvi in North Lapland, Sweden, Ice hotel Lumilinna in Kemy, Finland, hotel inside the glacier in Chile, not far from Pirihueico lake.

Independent restaurant award «Laurel leaf»

On the 22-d of March in the hall of Grand hotel Europe will pass an independent restaurant award «Laurel leaf» ceremony for the first time in Saint-Petersburg.
Award nominees are:
«Opening of the year». Public council of the ceremony chooses the best place, opened in 2007 year.
«Restaurant of the year». Public council chooses the best restaurant of 2007 year.
«Restaurant of the year». Restaurant critics council chooses best restaurant of 2007 year.
«Best restaurant action». Restaurant critics council awards the most interesting and bright event of 2007 year.
«Restaurant-legend». This nominee is invented to award long-living restaurant, established on restaurant scene of Saint-Petersburg, which became a big figure in restaurant industry development. The winner of this nominee is chosen by the organizing committee of the ceremony. Andrey Fomin is the chairman of the organizing committee.
Guests of the ceremony are leading restaurant keepers of Saint-Petersburg, famous society personalities, successful entrepreneurs and journalists.
Main aim of «Laurel leaf» award — development of restaurant business.

Judges of the ceremony are formed from 2 parts: Public council and Restaurant critics council. Public council consists of 50 persons, representing modern restaurant culture of Saint-Petersburg, regular restaurant visitors. Their names were called by restaurant keepers and chief-cooks of Saint-Petersburg's restaurants. They are politics, businessmen, main editors of magazines, public persons — main restaurants clients.

Restaurant critics council is represented by those people, for whom restaurants are their professional activity objects. They are main editors of leading Saint-Petersburg publications.

Prizes of the ceremony — Laurel leafs are made of jewel metals and enamel by the famous English Jewel house Stephen Webster. The ceremony will start at 7 pm. Grand hotel Europe is situated on Mikhailovskaya Street 1/7.

Tequila dance concert in Moscow hotel

On the 16-th of March in Moskva hotel was held a dance concert. Tequila dance school concerts pass in Moskva hotel not for the first time and all events pass very successfully. The concert was dedicated to the 12-th anniversary of Tequila dance school. This time Big restaurant hall of Moskva hotel was overcrowded. The number of spectators was over 1000 (Big restaurant hall of Moskva hotel can be easily transformed into concert hall for 700 seats).
Tequila dance school is known to be one of the best in Saint-Petersburg and Russia. Every three months dance school makes summary concerts for its students. These concerts are organized to help its students feel comfortable on the stage, to free them psychologically and to make their progress visible. Beauty in exile

From the 7-th of March to the 7-th of April in a State center of photography (Bolshaya Morskaya Street 35) is held an exhibition Beauty in exile.

Beauty in exile — beautiful russian women in Paris — is one of the most important projects of theatre artist, writer and fashion historian Alexander Vasilyev.

In 1998 appeared a book of A. Vasilyev - «Beauty in exile», which immediately became a best-seller. In 2001 A. Vasilyev shut a film for «Culture» TV channel, based on the book's plot.

Alexander Vasilyev is known as an outstanding collector. His collection numbers countless dresses and accessories and approximately 10 thousands photos, witnessed the fame of Russian women in Europe and USA after the revolution of 1917 year.

At the exhibition is shown just a little part of this unique collection. Portrait's heroines – women from rich noble Russian families, most elegant and beautiful women of their time. They all had to escape from the revolution. Many of them moved to Paris, Berlin and New York. They worked there as dressmakers, seamstresses and models. This was the beginning of Russian fashion houses (For example: Irina and Felix Usupovi, fashion house “IrFe”).

Photos tell us about hard work and life humiliation in emigration. But the beauty of these women don't dim, in spite of all ordeals in their life. Many of those woman became known just because of photos of Alexander Vasilyev.
